On International Women’s Day 2025, Chairwoman Yu Wang received the “Beijing March 8th Red-Banner Holder” award in recognition of her exceptional leadership and scientific achievements. Established by the Beijing Women’s Federation, this honor celebrates women who have made outstanding contributions and exerted a profound influence in their fields. It not only underscores Wang’s personal accomplishments but also highlights Darwin Biotech’s ongoing breakthroughs in neural repair and life-science health.

Under Chairwoman Wang’s guidance, Darwincell Biotech has remained at the forefront of neural repair research, tackling amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), stroke, Alzheimer’s disease, and other neurodegenerative disorders. In December 2023, the company and Tiantan Hospital launched the SPECIALS clinical trial of its Class I biopharmaceutical “Aleeto®” for ALS. By September 2024, the partners had opened an ALS & Neural Repair Translational Research Laboratory, and in February 2025 they initiated the ASSIST trial of Aleeto® for acute ischemic stroke—pioneering new treatments for rare and degenerative neurological conditions.

Beyond its scientific advances, Darwin Biotech is deeply committed to social responsibility. The company has donated to the “Wings of the Wind” project run by the Beijing Women and Children’s Development Foundation, and Yu Wang led the founding of the Darwin Cellular Biotech Science & Technology Association in Beijing to foster collaboration among academic, industrial, and clinical stakeholders. As Wang puts it, “Scientific discoveries gain true value when they translate into tangible therapies in patients’ hands.”

A champion of diversity, Wang has built an inclusive culture at Darwin Biotech: women now comprise 45 percent of the research staff, spanning every stage from discovery to production. She has assembled an internationally acclaimed scientific team and overseen the creation of a nationally certified GMP laboratory, demonstrating how rigorous research and human-centered care can go hand in hand.

From strategic vision to real-world impact, Chairwoman Wang’s insight and determination continue to drive Darwin Biotech’s progress in neural repair.
